Sunset at Cholla Cactus Garden: Joshua Tree, California
/Sunset lovers, say aye! If you did, you belong in my tribe and I love your vibe because does any other moment in life come as close to perfection as those spent staring at the majesty of a sunset sky? I think not. I consider myself so lucky to live by the ocean so my heart can have its fill of seascape pink skies, but our recent trips to Arizona and Joshua Tree have sold me on desert sunsets as a separate brand of beautiful, all on its own. This photo set doesn’t quite capture the full beauty of one of my personal favorite sunsets ever at Cholla Cactus Garden in Joshua Tree National Park, but I hope it’s enough to inspire you to go see it with your own eyes if possible!
Cholla cactus is a species of cactus indigenous and unique to, at least in the northern hemisphere, to Southwestern and SoCal desert region. I’d seen pictures of the Cholla Cactus Garden and knew it to be a cool spot, but it was only up close that I appreciated the distinct appearance and crazy tall heights of these cacti! At some point, we all just looked at each other like, “Is this still Earth or are we on another planet?!”! Make that the backdrop to a surreal deep colored sunset and it definitely makes for a night to remember. :)
I wore this boho luxe rust orange dress I’d been saving since the summer (Thanks to my Mom for the gift!) for the evening, and it’s a miracle I didn’t get the tassels caught in the cacti, you guys! Given the combination of my klutzy self, over excitement and twirls in a somewhat prickly situation, I’m happy to report that both my darling dress and I made it out of this succulent paradise in unscathed condition. ;)
Thank you for reading and have a fabulous weekend!
XO Sushmitha :)
