Snakeskin Coat + Rocksbox
/Work and life is in full swing here in D.C., and I'm enjoying my week-long geek sesh at the conference more than I'd like to admit! I'm hoping that being in the company of the best of the best in the field of neuroscience has sharpened my intellect just a tiny bit! It has been a while since I got my share of Kushal cuddles and home-cooked food though, so I'd by lying if I said I'm not looking forward to going home!
Another reason I can't wait to go home is to open up my new Rocksbox! Rocksbox is a designer jewelry subscription service and I love it, you guys. I'm not usually a fan of subscription services, simply because my budget does not allow for experimenting with things that I do not absolutely love or need. But I really like Rocksbox because for a price of $19/month, I can get not one, but as many boxes (of three pieces per box) as I would like to fit in the month! To simplify, it's RedBox for jewelry.. Get a box, wear until bored, return for new box. All the shipping is paid for, and if you love a piece enough to buy it, you can do so at a discount of 20% off of the retail price. My first box was themed around the gorgeous statement necklace that I'm wearing in this post, and I'm excited to see what my next box for the month holds. While my personal budget does not allow for a continued subscription, I definitely recommend it to those looking for variety in quality jewelry at an affordable price.
What this post is really about is this faux-leather, snakeskin-printed coat. I'm not a reptile lover by any means, but I have nothing but love for this well-tailored coat that makes an edgy print such as snakeskin look classy! For a coat that makes such a statement all by itself, I had no choice but to go with an all-black ensemble. I love monochrome looks for the creativity they call for.. With no room for color or print play, it's usually accessories or textures that I experiment with. Here, I simply layered a cropped sweater over a collared chiffon shirt for an almost peplum-like, flared effect.
I hope you liked my take on this cool, edgy version of animal print.. I would love to hear how you have or would like to style it!
As always, thank you for reading, and have a fabulous week!
XO Sushmitha :)
