Dressed for (Quarantine) Success
/When quarantine first began, I followed natural logic and dressed for the audience that I had i.e. no one. Anything went for an outfit, and before I knew it, things got too real. Here were ‘loungewear’, ‘loungewear outfit ideas’ and ‘how to style sweatpants’ in my google search history. Don’t get me wrong, I have great fondness in my heart for the remnants of my once-strong collection of various logo-embossed sweats. So much so that a certain green Aeropostale sweatshirt and a tired old PINK-adorned sweatpant in my closet have outlived furniture worth several times as much over multiple moves. Loungewear was, is and will forever be a fave, but it turns out that two weeks of wearing it uninterrupted turns me into the grouchiest grouch that inhabits the Earth.
I’ve since done the necessary- getting semi-dressed on weekdays in outside-ish clothes to work at the ‘office’, which in reality is the comfiest seating arrangement I can configure nearest to my dog’s chosen spot at home for the day. The effect of this AM sartorial effort has been that my personality’s done a full 180 and I am now a *self-proclaimed* delight to be around. Given the dumpster fire that is 2020, I have declared this to be achieving the unachievable. Four months in, I’m still riding the wave, albiet with a little help from my friends over at Chicwish. When this well-timed delivery of four lovely summer looks arrived, it was essentially a well-timed delivery of… say it with me… GOOD VIBES.
Call it an epiphany of sorts: I had apparently miscalculated the audience that I was dressing for. It was an audience of one. The audience was me.
Thank you for reading, have a great week ahead and please stay well!
