Denim Skirt + OTS Top: Independence Pass, Colorado

Happy Friday, fellow busy beavers! Continuing with the travel posts from Colorado, I'm skipping ahead a bit to share a few highlights from our drive through the Independence Pass on our last day, going back to Denver from Aspen.

It may come as no surprise that between the two of us, K is definitely the better outdoorsman ;), so the drive through Independence Pass was on his list of must-dos in Colorado. High up in the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of ~12,000 feet, I could see why! The Pass offers stunning overlooks to the gorges and valleys in the Rocky Mountain range, all covered in varying shades of green and gold if you visit in the Fall like we did. We made the steep and zig-zaggy uphill drive the first half of the day, making regular stops to admire the views leading upto the highest point (that also marks the passing of the Continental Divide Trail), before making the downhill drive into Denver.

For a day of exploring, I went with a retro chic combo of an off-the-shoulder top + denim skirt paired with boho-inspired accessories like this velvet choker and this tassel-trimmed bag. The varying elevations through the day exposed us to weather ranging from warm sunshine to snowfall(!), so I kept my blanket scarf handy for cold contingencies. Driving into 80 degree weather in Denver, we found ourselves some hot coffee and a patio table.. a city girl's end to a mountain man's day. ;)

Thank you for reading and have a wonderful weekend!
XO Sushmitha :)
