Color Crush: Black & Blue
/Lately, entertainment in the K&S household has taken an unprecedented turn towards the shady, in the form of binge-watching True Detective followed by The Killing followed by whatever other show on depraved human crimes exists that remains to be watched. If you haven't watched these shows, there's enough cynical sarcasm in one to erase all love for the human race forever and perennial, non-stop, grey rain in the other. Blame it on them that I'm gravitating towards the moody in everything else in my life too, including the clothes I wear. Fall neutrals are my jam right now... Black, blue and grey being the essentials in that mix.
The general convention followed by many, including myself until recently, is not to pair dark colors together. I've come to find that this could not be further from the truth... In fact, black and navy is now one of my favorite color combinations! There's an understated sophistication to this combination of two individually strong, elegant colors that is hard not to love. On a recent warm, early Fall day, a fuzzy navy cropped sweater with black harem pants seemed appropriate for a viewing of the pretty Fall leaves in our neighborhood.
But of course, it wouldn't really be my outfit without some bright pops of colors, would it? ;) Enter a statement necklace, some chunky strappy heels and a bright blue clutch. While I added interest through contrast colors, the outfit could be toned down with all-black accessories for some subdued glam or mixed in with a printed shoe or bag and flats for a daytime look.
This beaded beauty of a statement necklace seems to have stolen the words from my mouth! XOXO, gorgeous autumn leaves! ;)
Now, off I go for some suspenseful telly watching! Have a fun weekend, and thank you for reading!
XO Sushmitha :)
