Matching Skirt Set
/I was originally planning a post with Fall's star cast of preppy plaid, chunky scarves and cozy knits. But then it rained all weekend and I need vengeance, so this outfit from the recent summer spell we had shall be my virtual retribution. I did have the best doughnuts of my life this weekend, though. If you're in the Buffalo area, apple cider doughnuts at Mayer Bros' Cider Mill are the key to happiness. Trust me. My weekend wins and losses aside, how often does a grocery run to Target end in the clearance racks? Every single time. I'm always promising Kushal I'll meet him at the billing counter in five, just to have him catch me red-handed outside the trial room thirty minutes later! But what can I say.. Target clearance is just that good.
Case in point.. this skirt set I'm wearing. I paid $5.38 for the whole outfit, you guys. And I love everything about it.. the bold statement print, the darker take on florals making it trans-seasonal appropriate, the sporty vibe with the boxy top and the neoprene.. the list can go on. Last time I checked (about three weeks ago), the set was still available in store, with a more feminine chiffon top as an alternative to pair the skirt with. I was unable to locate the set online for this post, but you may get lucky if they haven't all been taken in stores.
Obviously, my point pennywise for all you budget betties today is to turn your local Target into a regular shopping destination. Some of the most-used, versatile pieces in my closet were found there on clearance under my no-more-than-$10/item budget. I also always check Target's Cartwheel app for extra discounts. Beyond that, all you need is patience and coffee. ;)
Matching sets were a rage the past season, and are showing no signs of leaving anytime soon. Its easy to see why, too. If the set's broken down and worn as separates, there's no limit to the amount of wear one can get for the price! I also love that a set offers options all year round.. pair the mini-skirt with a crop top in the summer, pair the top with jeans and a jacket in the winter.. my set's going to be in heavy rotation, if you can't tell already.
Nothing like a pair of moto booties to add some edge!
What do you think of skirt sets? I know I'm a fan! :)
Have a fabulous week, and thank you for reading!
