Color Block

Happy Monday, my friends! A quick post today to share this look from the weekend.. comfy and cute in just the right amounts. :) Color block is a big trend this Spring and Summer, but if you ask me, it's a timeless trick to looking chic and sophisticated with minimal effort. But as I was thinking about color blocking while going through my own closet, I realized that I haven't tried the trend out enough because I don't already own pieces that incorporate color block, thanks to my life-long obsession with prints and patterns. Hence today's post, in which I attempted to create a color blocked outfit using single colored separates (with a little help with some two-tones pieces) to help those of you that may be in a similar fashion conundrum try out the fun trend.

If you're still reading, you're willing to take my two cents on the topic, so here are my three pointers: 1) Black and white is always a safe bet. While it appears like a very casual color pairing with nothing special to it, color blocking is super easy with the B&W color palette.. pair any Black-xx or White-xx colored top or sweater you may own with the opposite colored bottom and you're done! Really, it's as easy as that! 2) Go easy on the patterns. While Google may show me ultra-sophisticated runway looks with color blocked stripes and geometric designs, I know I'd have to be a lot cooler than plain old moi to pull off some of that stuff. (But if you are that cool, more power to you, woman! And teach me some of your tricks. ;)) 3) Forget the clothes, and color block with accessories. White sundress with a yellow bag and shoes? Yes. All Black with a red lip and a red clutch? Yes. A blue maxi dress with pink accessories. Yessss.

Lucky for me, I had the help of this Adrianna Papell beige and black sweater tank to carry me through. Having seen some of their stunning designs at places such as Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's, I'm super excited to be working with them to bring you some fun Spring/Summer looks, so stay tuned to this corner in the weeks to come. :) Mod means minimal, so I kept the jewelry simple with this dainty little necklace from Serene Sky Boutique.. keep an eye out on my Instagram later this week for a giveaway to win some of your own Serene Sky jewelry!

Would you believe me if I told you that these Restricted Shoes smoking flats let you levitate? ;) Not kidding, you guys, K & I spent about thirty minutes in an alley for this shot, with me jumping and giggling alternately, much to onlookers' amusement. Ohh, the things I do for this blog sometimes. :|

See you later this week? As always, thank you for reading!
XO Sushmitha :)
