Boho In The City
/You guys, it's Thursday and the pressure on this coming weekend to be awesome-r than the last one is building by the minute. Since I've been basking in the glow of Memorial Day weekend all week, I thought I'd take a quick break from my Peru outfits to share my favorite of the few looks that I wore during that weekend's festivities. On windy and balmy Sunday, I stepped out for brunch with the hubs in this boho number and voila!, I was black-haired Batwoman! The wind took the wide bell sleeves in every direction it went, and I was a girl in utter glee all day as I watched the dress flowing and moving delightfully with the breeze. At the cost of stating the obvious, the ample ventilation was much appreciated too. ;)
Don't you love when truly utilitarian, comfortable trends make the rounds on the fashion scene? My exact sentiments on the cold shoulder trend: Yes, Please! Similar to the off shoulder style for tops and dresses (see this post), the cold shoulder trend can be worn by the modest and the more daring alike, and I love how comfortable and chic it can be in the hotter months! It was love at first sight with this retro-inspired dress from Blak Label.. the boho sleeves, the tassels and the cool cotton fabric make this one of my current summer favorites. I've also worn fringe before on the blog (see here and here), but if this isn't in your comfort zone, an accessory like the fun sandals I'm wearing here may be the way to go. I'd call this look festival appropriate, but when the boho bug bites, festival or not, you gotta wear what you gotta wear!
Thank you for reading, and I'll see you tomorrow with another Peru post!
XO Sushmitha :)
