Happy New Year's Eve, my dearies! As we each reflect on the lessons learned and joys earned in the past year, I'm reminded again of how fleeting time is. I'm as cynical as anyone else of new year resolutions, but I want to be striving harder in the coming year to live more in the present. Between my efforts to do my best as an intelligent neuroscientist and a creative style blogger, I often find myself lost in a sea of goals, both small and big, frequently already having dove into Tuesday's concerns even before Monday's time is up. Being a typical millennial, I tell myself that it's planning ahead, being efficient and goal-oriented! But no! It takes a NYE's eve's blog post writing session ;) to realize that it is indeed possible to have the cake and eat it too, while still being able to enjoy the little things. Soooooo in short (not), that's my new year resolution. Do any of you have resolutions this year? I'd love to hear them! :)

Between all of the serious thoughts and sober self-improvement plans, there is the one event that is the NYE party. If you're like me, your outfit plans for said event began immediately after last year's NYE party (Told ya I planned ahead. :|), because it's the one day of the year when you can go all out and nobody can complain that you're wayyyy too overdressed. Not that I have that said to me any time of the year at all. Just sayin'.

So this year, as you can see, I decided I was going to go all in and welcome the new year in my dream outfit. It's Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, you guys. With a little boho here and a little retro glam there, of course. ;) This sleek velvet maxi dress makes a perfect statement all by itself, but a boho braid, some pops of pink and blue (these layered Carolee jewels are such showstealers..Love!) and a glamorous faux fur cape seemed like they just belonged in this look. Don't you agree? :)
