Styled Two Ways: The Leather Jacket

Happy Friday, everyone! Another week and month ends.. gosh, time flies when you're having fun! Happy Halloween to everyone that's celebrating.. I hope your costume's scary and your party's safe! :) I, personally, am going to be in every Friday night's costume of sweats and a messy bun this year.. ain't  no party like vintage movies and a bottle of wine at home, folks! ;)

I'm so excited for today's post in collaboration with one of my favorite style bloggers, Susannah of Blush Out The Door.  Having admired Susannah's classic sense of style (combined with the most amazing photography!) for quite a while, I was thrilled when my trip to NYC in September for NYFW gave us the opportunity to meet, get to know each other and scheme up this little post. Today, we're showing you two ways to style a fall essential: the leather jacket. When we were discussing ideas for this post, the leather jacket was a no-brainer for so many reasons! It's the ideal layering piece during in-between weather, it adds perfect textural interest into any outfit, it's versatile enough for any kind of style, be it tomboy chic, grunge, feminine or classic, and finally, the advent of faux-leather has made the traditionally expensive material available at all price points. What I'm really saying is, there's really no excuse to not go get yourself some leather lovin' !

I love how Susannah and I styled our leather jackets in keeping with our individual styles! Downtown Cool vs. Uptown Chic, no? :)

Downtown Cool : Now, you guys need no telling on how cool I really am, right? ;) For an outfit that's edgy, cool, sexy (gotta get me some of that downtown street style cred!), I combined some of my other favorite trends this season- a graphic tee (previously styled here), leopard print and over-the-knee boots (Living in these! Be prepared to see these babies a lot more in the posts to come!), for a look that's perfect for a night out on the town.

While I love the traditional moto leather jacket, I adore the feminine details on this one! The ruffle details add such charm to the otherwise sober, earthy piece. For a retro glam vibe, I wore this look with side-swept loose curls, berry lips and the recently infamous single-earring trend. Trends, I tell you, they can be confusing sometimes. :-|

Here's where I stop typing out coherent sentences because I'm literally swooning over Susannah's darling look.

Uptown Chic: Classic and clean.. so characteristic of Susannah's classy personal style! Preppy, chic and sophisticated, the cable-knit sweater dress paired with the burgundy leather coat is so timeless in it's medley of fabrics, colors and proportions. I advise that you lock that closet up, Susannah, I may be obsessed enough to steal that coat away from you! ;) If you aren't already clicking your way over to her blog and Instagram, take my word and do it! You can thank me for it later! :)

How did you like the two different takes on the leather jacket? Is there one that's more like your own personal style?

Thank you so much for reading, and have a lovely weekend!
