Return of the Pants
/October. The month inspires mixed feelings in me.. one part happy at the thought of golden leaf beds, cozy cups of tea and warm knits to layer on, and one part pure terror at the polar ice-cap my world is about to turn into in the blink of an eye. Most people attach endearing terms to the month, but thanks to my divided opinion, I've devised a fitting neutral fashion friendly sub-title to accurately describe my sentiments towards October - Return of the Pants. A good time because my closet is well stocked with this well loved article of clothing, but also a bad time because a layer of thermals is most likely going to be underneath them. :| As with any sequel, there is potential and promise but.. you know the rest, no? ;) Let's not be quick to judge, though, because if the season's line-up of pants is anything like the statement pair in today's post, we're off to a pretty good start!
Wide-legged pants have been on my radar for a while now since the comeback of all of the retro 70s vibes, but I just couldn't find a pair that wasn't either too long or too wide on my petite frame. Enter this white pair from Mint Julep Boutique (head over to my Instagram to enter a $25 gift card giveaway!).. not only does it fit just the way I like it, the tulip hem, lace panels and bow-tie waist make it a head-turner to say the least! Since we shot these photos during our short Indian summer, I paired the romantic drape of the pants with a fitted crop top and an edgy white moto jacket, but I've since worn the pants with basic sweaters to keep warm. :)
Thank you for reading and have a fabulous weekend!
XO Sushmitha :)
