NYC Outfit Recap

In this recent blog post, I shared a favorite look from an early summer trip to NYC, when we stayed in Brooklyn and took in endless views of the Manhattan skyline (such as in the picture above) from across the Hudson river. In the week that followed, my parents joined us from India and we had the best time showing them all of our most loved sights and spots around the city! As always, I was live posting a lot of the looks I wore during that time on Instagram.. so many of you wanted the deets on several outfits, so I figured a recap was in order. Scroll through for a five day walk through memory lane (you'll find all the products linked below the first image!) and I hope this serves as inspo for upcoming travels to the Big Apple or elsewhere!

Day 1: Brooklyn hangs
We spent day two just exploring our Brooklyn neighborhood before picking my family up from the airport. I wore this breezy tie-dye maxi dress for comfort throughout the day.. it ended up being perfect for coffee followed by a late lunch and then a long and relaxed evening back at the bridge for the sunset. :)

Day 2: Rainy Day at the Met Museum
We woke up the next morning to pouring rain that had no plans of letting up! We beelined it straight to the Met and it was a perfect day long date.. neither of us had spent too much time and really seen the Museum, so we went early, strategized to hit up our favorite sections and didn't leave until it was time for dinner aka only-in-NYC-kinda-Ramen.

As you'll see from the rest of my looks, I hadn't planned for a rainy day out, so major improvisation was in order! With pj style being all the rage lately, I knew I had plans someday for this silk striped sleep set. It was carpe diem all the way for me when I styled this look, but if you only you could have seen K's face when he first processed the fact... :D

Day 3: Central Park, Grand Central and Rockefeller Center
Luckily, the rain passed and we were met with beautiful summer weather for the next couple of days, so a few good hours of picnicking in the park had to be worked into our plans. Something about Central Park in the summer is just magical.. I think K and I have been almost every year we lived in NY and it never got old! Despite having tired legs by mid-afternoon, we made it to our reservation at the Top of the Rock. How rad is that iconic Insta-famous shot Kushal was able to get of the views from above?! We ended the day with a quick pit-stop at Grand Central Station.. I always get goosebumps when I first step inside and see the countless crowds hustling through the hall!

Day 4: The Mantattan Sights
This was our day of cheesy tourist-ing, and it could not have been more fun! We hopped on a big red bus and hit all of the major spots- all of the lights at Times Square, the World Trade Center (followed by Halal Guys, obvs.), Wall Street (Go, Defiant Girl!) and the Flat Iron (gelato at Eataly and dinner at By Chloe- SO good!).

This ribbed tee with the striped tie-sleeve detail has been one of my favorite recent finds.. It's so cute for work and play, and you won't believe the price when you check it out!

Top: c/o shein ($12!), pants: old via H&M (Love this wide legged pair), sunglasses: valley eyewear, bag: oliver bilou, shoes: thrifted (similar here)

Day 5: SoHo and Bryant Park
Having had a busy few days, we spent our last day at a pretty relaxed pace.. shopping at SoHo followed by the perfect summer evening at Bryant Park. I wore this cute watermelon tee + step hem denim combo on that day and have re-worn it several times since! Fruit print seems to be a recurring trend every summer, so if you're looking to try the trend without investing, this tee would be the way to go!

I hope you enjoyed this recap! Leave me your thoughts on if you'd like me to continue with this format for upcoming travels. :)
