How To Layer With a Slip Dress

It’s the weekend and we’re almost all out of juice, but given that when we woke up, it’s Cinco de Mayo where I am and a good ol’ Saturday fun-day at the very least where you are, I figured I should save what little’s left of it for potential lemonade-ing, yes? ;) One very long sentence full of obtuse citrus talk, all because there’s an orange tree in my pictures. #sorrynotsorry

To get… scratch that… meander to the point-

The reasons to love a slip dress are many, and my favorite reason of them all may be their versatility. I own exactly three slip dresses- one jewel-toned mini that I styled as a top in this post, a vibrant floral one styled in this post and this pink midi version that I recently wore in Sonoma and shared a quick look of in this post. You can bet that I’ll be re-styling this slinky pink number with any number of jackets, blazers and such in the upcoming months, but since temperatures in NorCal have been playing catch-up at snail pace this year**, I’ll not be skimping on the cozy yet, please and thank you.

Enter this sequined statement sweater. I debuted it on Christmas eve for dinner at the Majestic Yosemite Lodge (which I may get around to sharing here on the blog yet!) but had been itching since to wear it again. It feels too special to wear just anywhere, with it’s gigantic sequins and color-blocked pastel palette, but I eventually got tired of waiting for an occasion and wore it in to Sunday brunch with friends in my very own neighborhood on a recent chilly weekend. Officially documenting a lesson learned with this blog post… Don’t wait, just wear it. :)

1) MMS moves across the country from NY to CA precisely because temperatures do not play catch-up at snail pace.

Is it me? Did I bring the Northeast cold with me? It must be me. It’s gotta be me, right? Yup, it’s me.
