Fall Maxi
/I’m not sure about you, but I’m officially in holiday mode as I write this from the confines of my home in Bangalore, India. Having traveled thirty hours across three largely different time zones, I’m as disoriented as one could be, so you’ll have to excuse me if I switch to gibberish at any point. Although, my communication seems coherent enough for a delicious first day of mom-cooked food, so I think I’m doing okay. ;)
So I know that Thanksgiving this week marks the beginning of a month of holiday related festivities, which in the fashion blogging world means sparkle domination at its strongest. While I will try my best to post outfits that incorporate elements of holiday fashion, here’s a fair warning that you’re probably going to be bookmarking the upcoming month of posts on this corner for warmer weather. The weather’s temperate and well, quite perfect here (sorry, my Buffalo peeps! I’ll try bringing some sunshine back with me!) so forgive me while I make the most of my getaway, fashion wise and otherwise! Make sure to follow along on my Instagram for snippets of my Indian adventures over the next few weeks! :)
As the perfect segue into the above mentioned posts comes today’s early fall outfit of a maxi dress + cropped jacket combo. I love a good maxi dress, and this paisley printed number is the first and my most favorite one in my closet. The dark color palette makes it appropriate across all seasons, with the print allowing for varied color pairings. A much shared secret among petite ladies is that the high waistband creates the illusion of a tall and leggy frame, which when paired with moderate to high heels, is a definite head turner.
A cropped jacket is a closet must-have in my opinion! While a cropped leather jacket would look fabulous paired with a feminine dress, I love a lighter alternative such as the suede coated one I’m wearing for transitioning between seasons. The edgy moto jacket silhouette paired with the flow of the chiffon dress is a winning mix of styles that are so different from one another!
What’s your favorite way to wear a maxi dress in the colder months? I’d love to know!
A very happy Thanksgiving to you, and have a fabulous week!
As always, thank you for reading!
XO Sushmitha :)
